Though he has just two Major League Baseball seasons under his belt, Yoshinobu Yamamoto has already racked up some very impressive accolades, including a World Series title with the L.A. Dodgers—and an eye-popping $325 million contract, to boot. So it’s hardly a surprise that the Japanese ace pitcher would be in the mood to acquire a fancy house in Los Angeles. Yamamoto was the buyer who recently paid $21 million for a mansion in the exclusive Bird Streets area of the Hollywood Hills.
Built on speculation by a development group and completed just last year, the nearly 11,000-square-foot house has reportedly never been occupied. Yamamoto scored a bit of a discount on the 6-bedroom, 7.5 bath structure, which originally hit the market in August 2023 with a $24.5 million ask. More recently, it had been priced at $23.8 million.

According to the listing, the blocky and glass-walled structure is “midcentury-inspired” and features the typical array of lavish amenities, with mosaic travertine tile imported from Italy, a climate-controlled garage for eight cars, a state-of-the-art security system and automated Fleetwood pocket doors that disappear at the touch of a button throughout.
Guests fortunate enough to gain entrance to the Yamamoto estate will be wowed by a 20-foot glass atrium highlighted by a “floating” staircase. They’ll also be impressed by the all-glass elevator, which is capable of whisking them from the main level down to the full basement or up to the private upstairs level in seconds.

On the main level, public spaces include a large living room, a formal dining room and a sleek kitchen offering Miele appliances and moody, dark gray cabinetry. All the main level rooms are linked together by the home’s open floorplan and bathed in natural light via floor-to-ceiling windows.
The lower level is primed for rest and relaxation. In addition to two guest suites, this floor packs in a soundproof home theater—ideal for watching the Dodgers defeat the Yankees from the comfort of one’s own home—a temperature-controlled wine display, a billiards area and an office. But undoubtedly the most impressive amenity is the 1,000-square-foot wellness center, which relentlessly pampers its clients with a dedicated massage room, a sauna and an indoor plunge pool.
The home’s penthouse level consists of four family bedrooms, all of them with ensuite full bathrooms. Among them is the primary suite, which hosts dual bathrooms, dual closets and views of the twinkling city lights.

Like many homes in the tightly-packed Hollywood Hills, this Bird Streets stunner sits rather hard up on the street, with a rather cozy front yard and a basically nonexistent backyard. But the 0.4-acre hillside property does manage to pack in wraparound patios with a fire-pit area and an outdoor pool adjoined by a raised spa, plus some terraced hedges for privacy and small patches of AstroTurf lawn for aesthetics. The pool itself is actually located in the home’s front yard, oriented as such to take advantage of the aforementioned city lights views.
And those jetliner views are indeed spectacular, with unobstructed vistas of the L.A. basin and peek-a-boo glimpses of the Pacific Ocean on non-smoggy days.

Yamamoto, 26, now boasts one of L.A.’s sexiest bachelor pads, though he may not be single for long—the 95-mph pitcher has been spotted around town with Japanese model Niki Niwa. In any case, he’s still winning off the field, as our research indicates Yamamoto’s $21 million splurge makes his property the most valuable of all the homes owned by players on the Dodgers’ active roster.
