Beginning in the early 2000s, this oceanfront Malibu compound served as Leo DiCaprio’s primary vacation home for more than a decade. Though the actor sold the place in 2013, it remains mostly the same and recently sold again, this time for about $26.7 million.
Property records certainly suggest the lavish home’s new owner is Hollywood agent Patrick Whitesell, who spent decades building his career all the way from the CAA mailroom to co-CEO of media juggernaut Endeavor.
Today, Whitesell’s net worth is well into the hundreds of millions and he is married to Aussie Pia Miller, a former actress. But he’s now far more famous for being the ex-husband of Lauren Sanchez than anything else—much to his chagrin, we suspect.
In any case, Whitesell can cool off at this breezy property, which sits right atop one of Malibu’s sandiest and most desirable beaches. The decidedly A-list spread was sold to him by New York-based hedge fund tycoon Christian Leone and his partner, landscape designer Malcolm Kutner. Leone bought the house from DiCaprio in 2013, paying $17.4 million.
Originally built in 1927 but heavily modified and expanded over the past century, the gated compound is comprised of a two-story main house and two detached guesthouses, altogether sporting six bedrooms and five bathrooms.
In addition to spacious, light-filled public rooms—a great room, a formal dining room and an open-concept kitchen—the main house has three bedrooms: two on the main floor and a primary suite on the penthouse level, complete with breathtaking ocean views. The listing also notes there’s a potential fourth bedroom on the main floor that is currently configured as a gym.
Though he’s new to this house, Whitesell is far from new to Malibu. Way back in 2012, he and Lauren Sanchez paid film producer Todd Phillips $8.4 million for an oceanfront home on Malibu’s La Costa Beach. That house, which Whitesell retained in the couple’s 2019 divorce, was ultimately destroyed by 2025’s raging L.A. wildfires.
Today, the main Whitesell residence is a $43 million Holmby Hills mansion sited along one of the most expensive and prestigious streets in all of Los Angeles.
During their marriage, Whitesell and Sanchez also acquired a Santa Monica house and a waterfront spread on Seattle’s Mercer Island. Records reveal that both those mortgage-free properties, together valued at well over $12 million, are now owned exclusively by Sanchez.
