Lily Collins Sells Pasadena’s Historic Case Study House #10 for a Big Profit

Emily is no longer in Pasadena. Or at least no longer at this address, because “Emily in Paris” star Lily Collins just sold her historic Case Study house for a very impressive $6.1 million, property records reveal.

The all-cash deal was consummated entirely off-market, so details are limited. But we do know that the home’s new owner is an LLC linked to a non-famous married couple who recently lost their Pacific Palisades home to the majorly destructive L.A. wildfires.

Collins paid just $3.9 million for the house four years ago, when she bought it from fellow actress Kristen Wiig. But since then, she’s given the place a full overhaul in collaboration with interior designer Emily Farnham, a project that involved replacing the hardwood floors with the original concrete and giving everything an earth-toned refresh. And last year, Collins and the house were photographed together for Vogue magazine.

Built in 1947 as part of the postwar Case Study residential program for Arts & Architecture magazine, the so-called “Case Study House #10” was designed by father-son architect duo Kemper Nomland and Kemper Nomland Jr. Decidedly low slung and decked out with walls of glass, the gated home offers three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, plus a wee detached guesthouse for a combined 2,874 square feet of living space.

Naturally, classic midcentury design details abound within—there are open-plan living spaces, an abundant use of wood and glass, and a massive, pillar-like brick fireplace that stands right in the middle of the living room. But there are contemporary touches, too—the kitchen and bathrooms have been equipped with modern fixtures and appliances.

Sliding glass doors throughout the single-story structure spill out to various patios and terraced gardens. Other features include a swimming pool and spa, plus a wall of tall hedges that surround the entire corner-lot property, which spans about a third of an acre.

The house is also located on a low-key but particularly prestigious Pasadena street, where some of Collins’ former neighbors included Meryl Streep, Oscar de la Hoya, Grimes and Kristen Wiig—who still lives just up the road, albeit now in a larger and more modern home.

We confess we have no idea where Collins is moving, but expect the successful actress (and daughter of uber-wealthy musician Phil Collins) to soon buy something stylish and expensive somewhere in the greater Los Angeles area. For now, she and her husband also maintain a European getaway in Copenhagen, Denmark.
