Klay Thompson Scores a $12 Million Hermosa Beach Escape

Yesterday TMZ revealed that big-name celebrities Klay Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion are currently dating. And while nobody seems sure if this is just a summer fling or something more serious, we do know that Thompson—now playing for the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks after a long All-Star stint with the Golden State Warriors—is still serious about his love for California real estate. The L.A. native, 35, recently dropped $12.4 million to buy a house in the seaside city of Hermosa Beach, so don’t be at all surprised if you spot him or Ms. Stallion prancing along the pier this summer.

Custom built in 2016 by contractor Mark Aniello and architect John Starr for local couple Erin and Hilary Condren—he a printmaker, she a designer and restaurateur—in collaboration with designers Mat Sanders and Brandon Quattrone of Consort Design in West Hollywood, the breezy compound blends casual comfort with all the high-end amenities buyers have come to expect at this price point. Entertaining was a priority for the Condrens, and so the place has two commercial kitchens (one indoor, one outdoor), four fire-pits, al fresco dining areas in the front yard and back, and foldaway glass doors for easy indoor/outdoor living.

Nestled into a lush hillside, the property is certainly not oceanfront and does not sport ocean views, though it is but a short bike ride or jog to the sea. What it does have is plenty of space: the half-acre lot is “one of the largest in Hermosa,” per the listing. And the mostly single-story house is large for the area, with five bedrooms and six bathrooms in about 5,200 square feet of living space.

Beyond the cobalt blue Dutch front door, highlights include a wideset front porch with plenty of space for neighborhood gatherings, a state-of-the-art gym and a movie theater/games room. The great room, kitchen, dining areas and sunken conversation pit are all centered around a courtyard where the pool and spa lie; also on tap are four guest/family bedrooms, one downstairs and three up, plus a ground-floor primary suite with a lavish bathroom and doors opening to the pool area.

The terraced backyard is set into the steep hillside and features the aforementioned outdoor kitchen and full bar on one level, plus a so-called “zen garden” with views overlooking the property on an upper level. And there’s even an outdoor pizza oven for times when Thompson gets sick of Doordash.

Thompson, who currently plays on a $50 million contract with the Mavericks, also still owns the longtime $2.2 million vacation house in Dana Point, Calif., that he acquired a full decade ago. Last year, he sold a Bay Area home in NorCal’s Belvedere city for nearly $10 million to tech CEO Gary L. Bloom. And while we assume Thompson also owns or rents a large home in Dallas, where the Mavericks are headquartered, we were unable to dig up any information on that property.
