While his bandmate Dave Keuning makes headlines for buying and selling houses to and from the likes of Brad Pitt and Jim Carrey, Mark Stoermer is packing a real estate punch of his own—albeit one not quite as splashily famous as Keuning’s.
The Killers bassist, now 48, has strung his Los Angeles home up onto the market, asking $5.3 million. That’s only a smidge more than the $5 million Stoermer paid for the place less than two years ago; even in the event of a full-price sale, he’ll likely suffer a loss once realty fees and taxes are factored into the equation.
Built in 1930 and sited in the far eastern Hollywood Hills near Griffith Park and just west of the Los Feliz border, the classic Spanish-style residence underwent a remodel by acclaimed L.A. designer Nickey Kehoe just prior to Stoermer’s purchase. Now awash in retro-inspired tilework and wrought iron detailing, the place is primed for some rockstar-like spotlight.
Walled and gated, the house presents as a humble single-story from the street but drops down mullet-style to three full levels out back. In total, there are five bedrooms and six bathrooms in a very comfortable 4,700 square feet of living space.
The front door opens into a vibrantly tiled foyer, which in turn steps down into the living room, where there’s an original fireplace and casement windows, plus double doors spilling out into the gardens. Also on tap is a very thoroughly renovated kitchen with Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances.
Perhaps the most visually arresting space is the Art Deco-inspired home theater, although there’s also a bathroom done up in might-be-original pink and green tile.
Also included are a cozy library-study area, a gym, a steam room, and many more sets of French doors that will ferry occupants out to sunny balconies. The tiered and terraced grounds, for their part, are highly private—mostly thanks to a jungle-like cover of trees and tropical plantings that envelope the 0.29-acre property. Surrounded by a patio clearing, the swimming pool and spa front an octagonal cabana with a full outdoor kitchen and fireplace.
This isn’t the first time Stoermer has bought and quickly flipped an L.A. home. Back in summer 2021, he paid $4.7 million for a 1920s Spanish-style house in Los Feliz; records show he sold that place less than a year later, for $4.9 million, to “This Is Us” showrunner Isaac Aptaker.
