Jimmy Kimmel made headlines on nearly every major media outlet this week, after he revealed on an episode of The Sarah Silverman Podcast that Trump’s presidency had driven him to obtain Italian citizenship—a move the longtime late-night host said will allow him to easily leave the country if need be.
Despite that big step, it seems unlikely Kimmel will actually depart the U.S. anytime soon. For one, the contract for his eponymous ABC show isn’t scheduled to expire until next year. And the New York native, who occasionally dabbles in real estate development on the side, still owns at least seven multimillion-dollar properties on U.S. soil—the newest of which he bought just last week.
Records reveal Kimmel and wife Molly McNearney have just paid about $7.8 million—a whopping $600,000 over the asking price—for their latest acquisition, a dignified and stately English Tudor-style mansion sited in L.A.’s historic Windsor Square neighborhood. Designed by architect Robert D. Jones and built in 1926, the home’s first owner was Justus Kirby, the wealthy son of prosperous Illinois farmers.
By the mid-1940s, the house was in the hands of securities broker Edwin L. Arbach and his wife, department store heiress Alice Harbach, the granddaughter of Coulter’s founder B.F. Coulter. The Harbach family owned the property for decades, perhaps even well into the 1980s; the house subsequently changed hands several more times before it wound up in the hands of “This Is Us” showrunner Elizabeth Berger and her husband, screenwriter Jeremy Roth; the couple paid $6.2 million for the place in 2022 and ultimately flipped it to Kimmel.
Standing dignified on a prime Windsor Square street, the 5,300-square-foot house features stained glass windows and hardwood floors that welcome guests into the formal living room, which features a fireplace and wood-paneled walls, or the separate sitting room, which has a fireplace and intricate crown moldings of its own. The renovated kitchen, perhaps the most modern space in the house, includes stone countertops, premium Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, and an attached breakfast room.
There’s also a west-facing formal dining room, perfect for dinners brightened by sunset light. In addition to a downstairs guest bedroom, there are four upstairs bedrooms, all of them with ensuite bathrooms. The primary suite features its own fireplace, sitting area, and walk-in closet.
While the 0.39-acre property’s backyard is not huge, it comes very well equipped. In addition to the de rigueur swimming pool and grassy lawn, there is a covered patio with built-in heaters, ideal for al fresco dining or entertaining on chilly nights. The patio is serviced by a newly-built outdoor kitchen, complete with a pizza oven and barbecue grill.
Also on the premises is a detached guesthouse/pool house with 1.5 bathrooms, a kitchenette, and space for guests—the listing notes this accessory structure could also be used as an office or a gym. And gardens filled with native plantings envelop the property, which also offers a two-car garage and separate carport parking.
For the past 15+ years, Kimmel’s main residence has been a two-house compound in the Hollywood Hills, on a quiet street tucked away near the famed Chateau Marmont. We assume Kimmel and his wife plan to sell this compound, which they picked up in two separate transactions for a total of $7.1 million and subsequently spent far more customizing, but have no insider knowledge of that.
Kimmel also maintains three vacation homes in the seaside town of Hermosa Beach: one of them a custom-built mansion (built) valued at $15 million+, the other two significantly smaller, but still multimillion-dollar properties. At least one of the smaller homes is occupied by a family member.
And perhaps most famously, Kimmel also owns two properties just outside Jackson, Wyoming: one of them the South Fork Lodge in Idaho’s Swan Valley, and the other the so-called Wildflower Lodge rental home (below) in the Wyoming town of Wilson.
