‘Emily in Paris’ Star Ashley Park Doubles Down on L.A. Homes

Though the show has long received lukewarm reviews from critics, who occasionally dismiss it as silly and pure “fluff”, there’s no denying that “Emily in Paris” has been a huge hit with audiences. Now going into its fifth season, the comedy-drama series frequently sits atop Netflix’s most-watched lists and has made bonafide stars out of several of its long-term main cast members, including Broadway actress Ashley Park.

Born in California but raised in Michigan, Park—who portrays wealthy socialite Mindy Chen on your television screens—has now returned to her hometown, where property records indicate she’s recently purchased not one but two different homes, the first near the posh L.A. neighborhood of Hancock Park and the other in Encino.

Park first paid about $2.5 million for a classic 1920s Spanish-style bungalow that’s technically located in Hollywood, though it’s mere steps from the Hancock Park neighborhood boundary. With three bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms in just under 2,200 square feet, the single-story structure is all old-school architecture outside.

Inside, however, the place recently underwent a big remodel that transformed it into a contemporary showpiece. There are new trendy light fixtures, the floorplan is newly open and sports hardwood floors, and the kitchen is decked out with stone countertops and premium appliances.

There are just two bedrooms in the main house, the primary one equipped with a spa-style bath and soaking tub, plus sliding glass doors that overlook the hedged backyard’s swimming pool and tranquil al fresco seating/dining areas.

The third bedroom is tucked away in what was formerly a detached two-car garage and is now a perfect guest casita, complete with a living room and bathroom. Like the main house, it sports hardwood floors and doors that spill out to the backyard’s entertaining area for the quintessential SoCal indoor/outdoor lifestyle.

After acquiring those Hollywood digs, Park headed to the valley, where she forked over about $1.7 million for a very similar-sized house, this one built new just last year and featuring just over 2,200 square feet of living space.

Contemporary both outside and in, the Encino property features four bedrooms and three baths under its single story roofline. There’s also a one-car attached garage and a motorcourt for at least three additional vehicles.

Like the Hancock Park-adjacent house, the Encino place also sports an open floorplan. Hardwood floors flow from the combo living/dining room into the eat-in kitchen, which is equipped with JennAir appliances and trendy Taj Mahal stone countertops.

Unlike Park’s other house, this property does not offer a swimming pool, though it is nicely hedged and equipped with a fire-pit and seating area set into a swath of artificial grass lawn. There’s also a full outdoor kitchen with bar-style seating.

Park, 34, appears to be fully embracing her new status as a recognizable Hollywood actress. In addition to “Emily in Paris,” she’s recently starred in Netflix’s “Beef” and Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building,” and she now sports more than four million followers on Instagram. Last year, she was featured on TIME magazine’s Time100 Next list, and A-list comedian Tina Fey memorably wrote that Park “vibrates with energy and warmth like a downed power line on a beautiful summer night.”
