‘White Lotus’ Star Natasha Rothwell Buys the L.A. House Next Door

About six years ago, actress Natasha Rothwell paid $1.3 million for her very first Los Angeles home. While modest by celebrity standards, the 44-year-old Kansas native—then fresh off her breakthrough role on HBO’s “Insecure”—selected digs that are certainly charming. Her two-bedroom, 1,400-square-foot bungalow lies on a tree-lined street in Larchmont Village, a peaceful neighborhood with a central location just south of Hollywood and east of the tony Hancock Park enclave.

In the years since, Rothwell’s fame has soared, mainly thanks to her starring role as hotel employee Belinda Lindsey on “The White Lotus” seasons one and three. (Rothwell also created and starred in the Hulu comedy series “How to Die Alone.”) So the Tinseltown-based actress has opted to upgrade her residential circumstances, in a manner of speaking, by spending $2 million to acquire her next-door neighbor’s house—a petite Spanish-style charmer that dates to 1921. Rothwell won a fierce bidding war for the place, paying a full $250,000 over the $1.75 million asking price.

Per the listing, the roughly 1,900-square-foot house packs in four bedrooms and two bathrooms, and there’s a detached two-car garage that could potentially be coverted into an ADU. The vaguely P-shaped structure has an unconventional floorplan: the front area features living and dining rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and two bedrooms, while a family room connects the kitchen to the rear wing of the house, which features two more modestly-scaled bedrooms that share a single bathroom.

From the street, a walkway leads into the grassy frontyard, which is surrounded by a low concrete wall and semi-shaded by an olive tree. An arched front door opens directly into the living room, which has been redone with fresh paint and features a decorative tile fireplace and original Spanish-style windows.

Living room hardwood floors flow into the dining room and the adjoining kitchen, which appears to have been mostly redone at some point in the late 1980s or ‘90s and could likely use another update. None of the home’s four bedrooms are currently large enough to function as a true primary suite, but they are light and bright, with oversized windows and hardwood floors throughout.

Out back, the mostly hardscaped backyard is overwhelmed by a massive orange tree, which simultaneously shades an al fresco dining/lounging area and appears to be attempting a takeover of the detached garage.

It remains to be seen what Rothwell will decide to do with her new “spare” home, but she now presides over a total of about 3,300 square feet of relaxed living space and numerous possibilities at her fingertips. That’s sort of akin to her “White Lotus” character, who ended season three by sailing off into the sunset with a multimillion-dollar bank account at her disposal.
