As one of the world’s most famous musicians, Adele’s personal life routinely makes international headlines. So it’s a bit surprising that the “Hello” singer’s recent purchase of a lavish desert hideaway went mostly unreported.
Perhaps recently is a bit of a stretch — Adele’s getaway home was actually acquired way back in late 2020, while the world was still in the thick of the Covid-19 pandemic. Five years is a veritable ice age in the real estate world, but we think the snazzy home is still discussing. That’s partly because it’s located within a celebrity-filled enclave and partly because photos haven’t previously surfaced.
Astute real estate watchers will likely be unsurprised to learn that the semi-secret desert residence is tucked behind the guarded gates of The Madison Club golf community. That’s because the Madison Club and its Tom Fazio-designed golf course has become quite famous for its wide array of celebrity residents, some of whom include Justin Bieber, Lori Loughlin, Tim Cook, Phil Knight, Cindy Crawford and nearly every member of the extended Kardashian-Jenner family.
Adele’s La Quinta home isn’t quite as large or as lavish as some of the extravagant homes owned by those other celebrities, but it’s still mansion-sized. Situated on a 0.61-acre cul-de-sac lot, the 5-bed, 6.5-bath structure spans 7,600 square feet of crisply contemporary living space. Tax records indicate the single-story house was custom built in 2016 for a non-famous couple, who quietly sold the place to Adele in 2020 for exactly $8 million.
Approached from the street, the bunker-style house wards off uninvited guests with its near-windowless façade. Outdoor landscaping is simple and geometric, and limited to a few patches of grassy lawn, a handful of mature olive trees and some drought-tolerant scrub plantings. There’s also a gated courtyard outfitted with patio space for lounging and a tranquil water feature.
Inside, the high-ceilinged public areas include a great room, a kitchen with top-of-the-line stainless appliances, and a formal dining room designed to get wows for its walls of glass and a floor-to-ceiling wine closet that lights up like a Vegas nightclub.
There are other nifty spaces, too, such as a very large private office with built-in bookshelves and backyard views, plus a billiard/games room. All five of the structure’s bedrooms feature ensuite bathrooms, and there’s an additional poolside full bathroom ideal for guests.
Speaking of the pool, it features a Baja shelf for sunbathing and is adjoined by a sunken outdoor conversation pit with a fire-pit. There’s also a covered loggia with a TV and an outdoor fireplace, perfect for entertaining. Views take in some of the Madison Club’s golf greens, as well as desert hills in the distance.
Many of the Madison Club’s ultra-affluent residents use their vacation homes only a handful of times per year, so the Club offers tailored concierge services and a maintenance staff designed to be available at all times. Also on the premises are a clubhouse with a full bar and a restaurant, as well as massage/fitness facilities and an array of personal trainers and other staff designed to cater to a resident’s every whim.
As for Adele, her main residence remains the $10 million Beverly Hills house she’s owned since 2016. But the 36-year-old Brit is currently gearing up for a major residential upgrade — more than three years ago, she paid Sylvester Stallone $58 million for a mansion in L.A.’s Beverly Park guard-gated community that is still undergoing major renovations.
While we suspect the Beverly Park behemoth will have grown even larger once Adele’s customizations are complete, at the time of her 2022 purchase the Mediterranean villa-style residence included eight bedrooms and 10.5 bathrooms in a whopping 18,000 square feet of living space, all of it set on 3.5 acres of lushly landscaped 90210 land.
